The first Tennis Leaders Course to be held in the Channel Islands was recently completed in Guernsey. This programme, run by Richard Smeed and Jo Robinson, is for 14-18 year olds and is a structured course that aims to provide an environment in which young people learn tennis specific leadership skills to assist coaches and competition organisers in their delivery of Aerial Mini Tennis. Leaders are recognised with certificates for the award. It is ideal for those going on to PE or Sports Science at further education levels. This will give them a grounding to go on and achieve further leader awards and hopefully take up a career in tennis coaching.
